I will not be allowing any more links to other forums or commercially based websites.

I am getting fed-up with other web masters 'removing' any reference to this site from theirs, or not reciprocating the courtesy of linking back.

I totally agree with your stance on this. Well done. I believe any link should be reciprocal and in any event the objective should be to help each other and to promote Costa Esuri and the area in general.

No, its ok Mark, you quite rightly link back to here from your blog, so I am completely happy about that.

My main gripe is other web masters whom jelously guard their interests by not allowing any links or references to here (how much revenue to they make? - it cant be that much - the market is just too small).

Also, I am happy with commerically orientated posts that actually offer help and advice, but importantly I would like them to link back to here from their wesites, its a small price to pay for the privilage - as afterall on other forums they have to pay for it....

I allow some self promotion as long as its relevant and helps other members out. It would be nice if perhaps they offered some small discount for members if they read about the service/product/goods from this board?

My main objective with the blog / squidoo lens is to build awareness of Costa Esuri and also, hopefully, generate leads for lettings - happy to share this with anyone else looking to let their property if/when it gets running properly.

In reaction to your post, on one of those other forums we are offering a discount for registered members which has been changed in such a way by the forum owner that those members can be under the impression that they have to buy a t-shirt or coffee mug from this forum first before they get a discount. Of course that has never been our intention.

I hasten to add that my original post is targeted mainly at other 'forums', not necessarily commercial websites. I posted an invite message on another forum and it was removed immediately, and it got me angry.

However, I am a realist and understand it can be much harder to change a fully functioning front-end website to include a link.
