Does anyone have any updates on satalite dishes? What are the current rules over it?
There is a company SAS offering Sky box installation and dishes. Apparently we can have one dish per bloque on the RAGO appartments, and they have the contract to install this.

Just back from Esuri and talking to a few people there now seems to be a free for all re satellite dishes. Originally Fadesa were to have pre-installed cables and then one communal dish per building. Fadesa them found problems with the cabling facilities (sub-contractors???) and gave up on the idea.
Seems anyone can now get a dish installed (no idea whether there ought to a licence / approval from anyone for this) and there is no one approved contractor. Presumably the Management Company should have a say in this but apart from paying them money each month I know nothing about them!!
I had a quote of c 500euros for dish, cabling and SKY box - ground floor apartment / Marina Esuri. Don't know how competitive that is. Not sure whether to go ahead without knowing for sure I'm not going to be told later I needed approval! _________________ Regards

Hi Mark,
Our apartment is also on Marina Esuri and we tried to get sky installed when we were out there in January. Unfortunately there was a pre-installation problem with the cable ducting and the installers weren't able to pull the cable through the ducting from the aerial to our apartment so we didn't get the system installed. We were told that we would have to get a different system installed (wireless free I think) which would cost an extra 150 euros. As it was near the end of our holiday we decided to give it some thought. We are going out on Monday and may look into this further.
We have also had a problem with our air conditioning unit, again with the pre-installation. I would say that we are not the only ones in our Manzana who are having these pre-installation problems with both sky and air conditioning. For anyone who is not quite sure what the pre-installation is it is something that has gone wrong in the build i.e. the ducting has been squashed or something of the like.
Hope this info is of help to you.

Thanks for that Jean. I understand that this is the reason why Fadesa gave up on the idea of the communal dish - ie the pre-install created more problems than they wished to handle so it's been left to each individual owner to sort out.
Did you need to get authority to put the dish up? Or were you just taking a chance?
Re air-conditioning we had a similar experience - they ended up having to replace a bathroom ceiling! At least I wasn't there to get stressed by it!! _________________ Regards

The sat dish that was going to be installed could have served the 6 apartments in the block. The idea being that any of the other apartments connecting to it would pay to us their portion of the cost of installation. However as we were installing it to connect to UK tv I don't think it would have been of use to the Spanish owners. We have been told by Jose, our manzana president and the inter community president, that the sat dishes can only be fitted in the appropriate area; now whether this has gone by the board due to the problem with pre installation is anyones guess. I will try and find out more info next week.
Keep watching this space.

AEA are adverising 399 euros for full installation on their website. We have a townhouse and are desperate to get sky installation but are equally worried about what an eyesore it would cause if every house/apartment put up individual dishes

Tony
we were thinking about trying to join up with our next door neighbours and share a dish....not sure if this is possible but we thought would share the cost and cut down on number of dishes? We are also in a townhouse.
Anyone out there know if this is possible?

Hi Mike
I was told that this IS POSSIBLE. Effectively this was the original plan of Fadesa. I believe it's still possible to have one dish per building with each owner cabled to it. Obviously this becomes a problem if you don't know the other owners but in your case seems perfectly sensible.
Talk to Carlos at Flamingo Services (his mobile no is on my blog) he'll let you know what's possible & cost etc. Speaks very good English _________________ Regards

Hi Mark
As promised we again looked into the possibility of having sky installed. We met the security guard on RMA1 who was arranging for an electrician to come and unblock the ducting so that the wires can be pulled through. Unfortunately this wasn't done while we were there but we are hopeful.
With regard to putting the sky dish any where other than where they should be we have again been told that this will not be allowed.

Hello Jean
Thanks for your message - hope you had a good week.
I guess the big question is "where are you allowed to put the satellite dish?" Nobody seems to know for sure.
I'll post further info. if I get any. Good luck with the ducting!

HI,
I have worked on a lot of the blocks there and most blocks have a 1m33cm dish installed on the roof with a four output LNB, this provides a minimum of 4 apartments with signal. The cables go through tubes from the roof through the lift shaft then with tubes to the individual apartments on each floor. Should a block contain more than 4 apartments and all of the outputs are already used then a multiswitch needs to be installed either on the roof or in the lift shaft.
I hope this helps.
Chris Davies.
